Adoration
Explanation and Ideas for how to do your Ancora Adoration.

What is adoration anyway? It is simply... loving Christ, being there for him. He has chosen to stay in the tabernacle until the end of time, just to be as close as possible to us. Because he is so quiet and humble, he is often forgotten and left alone in many tabernacles and churches. Ancora members are called to console Christ in his loneliness and they also use their adoration time to pray to the Master of the harvest for each vocation on their Ancora signature cards. Ancora members do fifteen minutes of adoration weekly to pray for vocations and the Holy Father. Your Ancora adoration time can be the best time of your week!
When can I spend 15 minutes in adoration?
  • If your family does a weekly Eucharistic Hour, it is the perfect time to take 15 minutes to specifically pray for the Holy Father and vocations.
  • Go early to Sunday Mass, and spend 15 minutes before Mass praying for vocations.
  • Ask if you can stay after Mass ends, to pray for 15 minutes. Some of your family might even want to pray with you.
  • If you go to a Catholic school, arrive early to school, or stay afterwards and have your mom/dad pick you up a little later than usual.
  • If you live near a church, walk and take a friend!
  • If you go to Religious Education every week, ask your parents if you can stop in the church before or after.
  • If you drive by a church every week (i.e. going to the grocery store…), ask your mom if she will stop in with you for 15 minutes.
  • If you live far away from a church and none of the above are possible, kneel down and pray for 15 minutes in front of a crucifix in your bedroom or house. Try to be as fervent as if you were in an adoration chapel. You can invite a few friends over sometimes to do your 15 minutes with you. Remember, Christ said, “When two or three are gathered in my name, I am in the midst of them."
How to make the best use of your adoration time:
  • Don’t forget your Signature cards!
  • Take a few moments at the beginning to place yourself in the presence of Christ, your Lord and your best friend.
  • Try to talk to Jesus from your heart about the vocations the Church needs, (especially the ones that signed your Ancora card), and the Holy Father.
  • You should always pray the Prayer for Vocations and the Prayer for the Pope.
  • But don’t just talk, listen… Christ has things in His heart that He wants to tell you too!
  • Use some prayers, if they help you. Pray them, really meaning them from your heart, not just reading or saying them.
  • Write a letter to Christ, or keep a spiritual diary in which you can jot down the thoughts and inspirations that come to you during adoration time.
